Parthenon Skulpturen

Mag. Alexandra Pistofidou: Secretary of the Executive Board of the International Association for the Reunification of the Parthenon Sculptures (IARPS) and Founder and President of the Austrian Committee for the Repatriation of the Parthenon Sculptures. Αlexandra studied History and Archaeology in the University of Athens and continued her studies in Palaeography with transcriptions of various Manuscripts in ancient Greek and Latin. In 2010 she moved from Athens permanently in Vienna, Austria where she completed her Master in the faculty of Historical and Cultural Studies, in the University of Vienna (Historisch-Kulturwissenschaftliche Europaforschung Uni. Wien). During this period, she excelled in Cultural Heritage, History and Law by raising the ethical question of emptying "International " Museums which serve as trophy-cases of their looted treasures (in the context of imperialism and colonialism), by stressing the immediate return of the stolen property back to their country of Origin and their rightful heirs and by writing her Thesis on the sensitive subject of the Repatriation of all the plundered Parthenon Sculptures. Parallel to her job as a Palaeographer, she studies Law in the University of Vienna (Juridicum - Rechtswissenschaftliche Fakultät, Uni. Wien) and fight daily the status quo alongside her team, by trying to raise awareness, engage the community, face challenges and spread the Code of Ethics of Cultural Heritage through Conventions, publications, declarations, proclamations, norms and various projects.
