Immortalizer from Ontario, Canada is the brainchild of Dave D.R. a multi-instrumentalist recording artist who composes all the music, writes all the lyrics, and performs every instrument as well as the vocals for the band!
Just watch the video for “Gone to Hell” and you will see Dave D.R. performing every instrument moving with ease from guitar to the bass and then to the drums and back again. Dave D.R. also sings really very well. His vocals are aggressive in a warm way thus recreate the old power metal feeling and magic adding some own freshness to it.
There has been a great job done in the riffs of the song which are very very cool and stick to your mind from the first listen. The bass adds in some excellent and technical fills, but it also keeps the steadiness of the rhythmical part of the song. The drums are also very solid and rock out really hard.
“Gone to Hell” is a song that you will think you have already listened before. That’s unavoidable because the ground of Immortalizer’s music is on classic rock bands like Thin Lizzy, then goes on to the gods Motorhead (try find and listen to Immortalizer’s song “Lemmy” which is actually a tribute to Motorhead), and then it passes on through Primal Fear, Helloween and Gamma Ray to what should be the power metal side of the band. Nevertheless, thrash metal influences can also be found hidden in Immortalizer’s music.
With this being said, “Gone to Hell” is fresh and exciting, but at the same time familiar! The sound and production is clean in the final mix, but not over-polished, thus keeps the Motorhead-ish aspect of the band much alive.
Immortalizer is a great way to boost your energy and in this melancholic world that’s a real win!
