O Ρουμάνος μουσικός και συγγραφέας EDUARD BANULESCU μιλάει στο Hephaestus

1)      Welcome Eduard! How things are going about Eduard Banulescu?

Hello! Thanks for the interview! Well, considering the fact that there’s a war raging at the border of where I live, things could be better. This shall neither dissuade nor stop me from making more music. It might force me into hiding, however. Got my bags ready and my boots shining.

2)      Are you satisfied about the first feedback for your new single ”Long Time Ago”?

Nobody has included it on their Worst of the Year just yet. So, I’m still hoping I’m to a winner. Yeah, I think that people who heard it got what it’s about. It’s a song about borders and losing one’s identity. Surprised it’s so appropriate in Europe 2022.

3)      After releasing your new song, you show that you are a really promising rock artist!. Are there any plans for a full album in the near future?

Thank you! Well, yes! I plan to release so much music that the internet may need to ban me.

Long Time Ago is part of an EP titled Bontida. It’s named after a small town in Transylvania.

4)      How can you describe your sound?

Psychedelic-folk, alt-rock, or something that Bob Dylan might write after ingesting a really hot pepper.

5)      What are your musical idols?

I try to rip off Paul Westerberg as much as I am able to before he sues. Although, if he did sue that would be great publicity and it would mean that I could meet Paul Westerberg.

I’m also a big fan of Syd Barrett, Chris Cornell, and Tiny Tim.

6)      Tell us a few words and special moments about the recordings of your stuff.

This one is a 100% bedroom recording. I play all the instruments and do the singing. Sometimes neighbors kick on the door, or punch the walls. I wait for them to stop, and get back to work. I’ve recorded in many studios, but found that my bedroom provides that none of them can equal.

7)      What is your opinion about the use of internet? Is this helpful about the bands or they are just being lost into a sea of information?

It sure beats plastering your concert poster around town. But, there’s a lot of inflation as well. I think that it’s a good place for people willing to dive deep and find some gems.

8)      Any live plans for you?

Yes, I’ll play wherever they’ll have me, from Berlin to the Sufi festivals in Morrocco. Just ask and I’ll come a-callin’.

9)      What is your biggest dream about Eduard Banulescu?

I have this one dream where I’m eating peanut butter in front of a speeding train. Not the biggest, but a recurring one for sure.

Hopefully, I can get to play Wembley stadium before that comes to pass.

10)   How did you get started with music? Any special musical studies?

I was kicked out of music classes when I was a kid. They said I was hopeless. I didn’t argue with them. Still don’t. But, I don’t think that being able to play has much to do with writing good songs. Just check out the Ramones!

11)   What do you think about the Romanian rock scene? Are there any new bands or artists that you love?

There are a few alternative bands that are doing some great things. There are pockets of scenes. Hopefully, things will get better once live shows start back up.

I particularly like this band called Anomalii. They play punk-rock.

12)   Congrats and good luck about your work, Eduard! The last words are yours.

Stop the war! Let’s have peace, and continue to have a world in which we can get to enjoy music. Cheers!
