Η BARBARA BLACK από την Ισπανία μιλάει στο Hephaestus
We present today a band from SPAIN, Barbara Black !!!
Welcome to Austria, to our site
Thank you! You are very kind.
1st of all before we start the interview, please tell us who are the Band members and how you all met?
Nitro, Javier and I were used to rehearse in the same music rooms some years ago and we realized we had many musical interests in common, we really liked the same artists and musical influences. So finally we decided to start a project together. We released our first EP “Spiritual Rock” and in 2017 we released our full album “Ad Libitum”. We went touring to UK and after that Niño Buffalo Márquez and Cone joined us, in 2018. Later on we compose “Love, Death & Flies” and released it in 2020.
Is there a connection and same interest in the music you play?
Yes! We are nurtured by the same influences, being quite clear about the way forward for Barbara Black.
How do you describe your sound?
Our sound is born from the roots of rock but with the power of today´s metal. We really like melting country, blues or gospel influences with rock and metal. You will find dark and beautiful lyrics and very passionated voices.
Who are your main musical influences?
We like artists such as Black Stone Cherry, Shinedown, Sixx A.M., Joe Bonamassa, Halestorm or even more extreme like In This Moment.
Your latest album is “ Love, Death and Flies” , tell us more about it.
It is our darkest sound, we composed it in a very stressful year so that´s the reason we needed the fury of metal. And about the lyrics they talk about social issues, animal rights and sometimes about my own feelings or experiences.
What does your music say about you?
I tell you some experiences of my life. For example In Kissed by Flames I speak about a paranormal anecdote I lived some years ago or in Don´t Play with Fire I explain you all a bad experience we had with a manager that scammed all of us.
When you write your songs, are they usually in English or in Spanish?
I prefer English when I write lyrics. It is true that Spanish is a beautiful language but in my opinion less musical, for me it´s perfect for poems, but for music I feel more comfortable singing in English.
What is more priority to you all, your Music or your personal career?
Both. Our musical project it´s our job too, in fact it´s like we were working in two jobs. We need our actual jobs to support our band, that´s the true.
Will you be gigging or touring?
Yes we have some booked dates!
9 Oct. Oktober Fest, Madrid.
11 Dec. Sala Covibar, Rivas-Vaciamadrid.
5 Feb. Sala Paberse Matao, Valencia.
26 Feb. Sala Vizzio, Alcorcón, Madrid.
9/16 Ap. Ladies of Metal festival 4, Greece.
21 May Sala Rockville, Madrid.
Do you have a job(s) and/or the lifestyle that enables you to take time off and hit the road?
Yes! I am a music teacher in a school, but it is really very hard being working everyday, and in the evening rehearsals, gigs, interviews and etc. But that’s what we love!
Where do you see yourselves as a band in five years from now?
Having recorded one or two more albums and playing at big festivals all over the world!!
Do you sometimes buy music? And from where ?
Yes! I usually go to a shop called Fnac. The last albums I got were Ozzy Osbourne, The Hollywood Vampires and Sixx A.M.
What are your next plans?
We are going to shoot our next videoclip “Queen of Flies” and we are starting to compose the next album!!
Before we close is there something you like to add?
Thank you so much for your kind words and this lovely interview. If you let me, I would like to remember metalheads they can visit our website www.barbarablackrock.com/store and get our album, t-shirts, facemasks, magnets…whatever they want!! Supporting your metal artist is a very important thing for our music scene. \m/
