12th International Amorgos Film Festival
On the beautiful Greek island of Amorgos, at the 5*Aegialis Hotel & Spa (www.amorgos-aegialis.com), the 12th edition of Amorgos Tourism Film Festival, will take place, 4 to 9 of November 2021.
Aegialis Hotel & Spa has been certified with the COVID-Shield by TUV Austria and Amorgos island is one of the safest places in the world as a COVID-free destination, so far.
The main goal of Amorgos Tourism Film Festival is to set up an international platform, to encourage global tourism through audio-visual media, to promote the culture and sustainable tourism of Amorgos, the Cyclades Region & Greece and to showcase environmentally-conscious efforts locally and internationally.
The Amorgos Tourism Film Festival is a member of CIFFT (Committee International Film Festivals Touristic), which is based in Vienna.
Amorgos is an island with very rich history, as it was in the center of the Cycladic civilization in antiquity. According to mythology, this was the island where Ulysses, was attracted like a magnet by Goddess Kirki, while returning to Ithaca, and stayed there for 10 years. Due to the island’s special energy, a water Oracle dedicated to Apollo was built in ancient times, and the holy water is still in a cave, within the Monastery of St. George Valsamitis, which is built on the ruins of the Oracle. The same magnetism attracts wellness enthusiasts, who flock to Amorgos, for its strong revitalizing energy and the abundance of therapeutic herbs. Amorgos is considered the perfect place for spiritual and physical uplift.
On the 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th of November, 2021, there will be screenings in Aegiali, Chora, Katapola and South Amorgos, open to the inhabitants and visitors of Amorgos, who will have the chance to watch all the films, and draw information on current developments in the areas of culture and tourism.
The Amorgos Tourism Film Festival is organized by the Women Cultural Association, and the Municipality of Amorgos, and is supported by The Greek Ministry of Culture, the Greek Film Commission & Greek Film Center, and the National Tourism Organization of Greece.
