Daughters of Penelope Pallas Athena Vienna: From Fear to Hope
From Fear to Hope – Our Women’s Cancer Panel Discussion
A discussion about women’s cancer? Honestly, at first, the topic made many of us feel uneasy. But our Daughters of Penelope Pallas Athena Vienna event changed the perspective for all of us! Instead of fear: hope. Instead of helplessness: knowledge.
Bye the way, we are supporting Krebshilfe Wien with this event. So, it would be great if you supported too, to provide psychooncologigal treatment to patients:

And here, what we learned from our esteemed international panel:
Dr. Raptis, Director of Oncology, Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey, shared insights on cutting-edge personalized cancer treatments that significantly improve patients’ quality of life.
Caroline Justich, a former Stage 4 cancer patient, took us on her inspiring journey—from acceptance to healing—a story that truly gives hope. She also pointed out, how important it is to be able to navigate our health system!
Univ. Prof. Dr. Elmar Joura, lead developer of the HPV vaccine, emphasized its importance in protecting both women and men from various cancers—highly recommended for all!
Dr. Alexandra Resch, renowned radiologist, highlighted that e.g. mammography is no longer the only tool in breast-cancer prevention and diagnosis—exciting innovations are shaping the future!
It was an incredibly enriching experience, not just for our sisterhood but all our guests! A heartfelt thank you to all our panelists, our President, Althea-Maria Papoulias, for organizing this prestigious panel, and to Lydia Goutas for her professional moderation.
For those who, like some of us, might feel uncertain about the topic—stay tuned! The panel recording will be available online soon. It’s worth watching!
Special thanks to Ariadne Steinberger for the amazing photos! Thank you sister Athanasia Vassiliadou for your technical support!
