„KISSES TO THE CHILDREN”
Vassilis Loules, GR 2012
FILIA EIS TA PAIDIA | WRITTEN AND DIRECTED BY Vassilis Loules | CINEMATOGRAPHY Dimitris Kordelas | MUSIC Nikos Kypourgos | WITH Rosina Asser-Pardo, Iossif Ventura, Eftyhia Nachman-Nachmia, Marios Soussis, Shelly Kounio-Cohen. 114 min | colour, Greek original language with German subtitles, DCP
Hidden behind a window, the then 10-year-old Rosina Asser-Pardo had to watch the deportation train of the Jewish population of Thessaloniki. Her grandmother was also amongst the people on the street. Like Rosina, Iossif, Eftyhia, Shelly and Marios were also hidden with non-Jewish families as children. The film brings the memories of the five protagonists to life and reports on Jewish life in Greece before the Nazis invaded the country. It shows rare historical footage of occupied Greece as well as archive material including amateur film footage of German soldiers and film footage secretly shot by Greek patriots.
„KISSES TO THE CHILDREN” is not just another film about the Holocaust; it’s a film about childhood in the shadow of the Holocaust.
In the presence of the director, Vassilis Loules.
An event of the Embassy of Greece.
