Beyond Borders | Kastellorizo International Documentary Festival proudly presents the Audio-Visual Pitching Lab, a pioneering initiative in Greece that provides young filmmakers with a unique opportunity to present their documentary ideas to an esteemed panel of industry professionals.

This exclusive platform connects emerging talents with producers, distributors, directors, editors, film critics and other key figures in the international film and television industry. Participants will receive expert feedback on how to develop their concepts into fully realized projects, while also gaining direct access to funding opportunities. The top project, as selected by the Lab’s jury, will win a mentorship program with a leading production company in Greece, offering tailored guidance on financing and project development.
Who Can Apply?
The Audio-Visual Pitching Lab welcomes applications from:
- Film students, emerging directors, and visual artists from Europe, the Mediterranean, the Middle East, North Africa, Latin America and beyond.
- Creators with project ideas centered on historical and multicultural content, events and personalities that have shaped societies and cultures.
Applicants are encouraged—but not required—to submit visual material to enhance their presentation. Selection criteria include the originality and strength of the idea. Proficiency in English is essential.
What to Expect?
- The Pitching Lab will be held online via Zoom, ensuring global accessibility.
- Participation is free.
- Selected filmmakers will receive personalized professional guidance on how to develop their ideas for the international documentary market.
- A total of 10-12 project ideas will be presented and showcased digitally over two days during the Festival, on August 27 & 28, 2025.
- The event will be livestreamed through the Beyond Borders | Kastellorizo International Documentary Festival YouTube channel.
How to Apply?
- Submit your application via the available form here.
- Deadline for submissions: June 12, 2025.
- Selected participants will be notified by July 6, 2025. Their names and project summaries will be published in the official Festival catalogue.
